Bandai Namco Holdings released its first-quarter financial results on Aug 8, 2024, revealing a breakdown of sales for each of its intellectual property (IP).

Among the IPs, One Piece saw the most significant growth, while the Gundam series continued to hold its position as the company’s top revenue generator.

The One Piece IP saw a remarkable 33.2% year-on-year increase in revenue to 33.3 billion yen, marking a new record high. The growth in revenue for One Piece was largely driven by the success of its games, mobile applications, and trading card game.

While One Piece saw record growth, Mobile Suit Gundam retained its position as the company’s highest-earning IP, despite a slight revenue decline of 2.2%. The Gundam series brought in 36.1 billion yen, continuing its streak of achieving over 30 billion yen in revenue for the eighth consecutive quarter.

The sustained performance of Gundam was bolstered by the release of the film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, which reinvigorated interest in the franchise’s model kits and related merchandise.

Another notable performer was Dragon Ball, with an 8.0% increase in revenue, reaching 31 billion yen. Similar to One Piece, the growth in the Dragon Ball franchise was largely attributed to the success of its games and trading card game.

Other IPs also experienced significant growth during the quarter. Naruto saw a 51.0% surge in revenue to 7.4 billion yen. Anpanman and Precure also performed well, with revenues increasing by 31.6% to 2.5 billion yen and 38.5% to 1.8 billion yen, respectively.

However, not all IPs experienced growth.

Ultraman saw a 14.6% decline in revenue to 3.5 billion yen, while Super Sentai also faced a 5% drop, bringing in 1.9 billion yen.

On the other hand, Kamen Rider managed to grow by 5.1%, reaching 6.2 billion yen.
