Cowboy Bebop Gets Jamming New Trailer Release in Official Overwatch 2 Collaboration

Cowboy Bebop gets a slick new trailer for its collaboration with Overwatch 2, closely referencing Shinichiro Watanabe’s iconic 1998 opening theme.

The upcoming anime is based on the manga Dandadan, created by Yukinobu Tatsu, which has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ since 2021. The story follows high schoolers Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura (called “Okarun” by Momo) who bond over their shared interest in the supernatural, although Momo believes in ghosts but not aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but not ghosts. In a bet to prove the other wrong, Momo goes to a haunted tunnel and Okarun visits a hospital in which a UFO was spotted. In a twist, Momo gets abducted by aliens and develops psychokinetic powers, and Okarun gets possessed by a powerful yokai called Turbo-Granny. With their newfound abilities, the two try to navigate the dangers of love, high school and the supernatural.

The manga quickly gained massive popularity and received praise for its unique premise and highly detailed art style, selling over 3.2 million print copies and amassing over 360 million views on the Shonen Jump+ app. The upcoming anime adaptation, produced by Science Saru — the animation studio behind the emotionally moving Ride Your Wave, Star Wars: Visions and Devilman Crybaby — features a star-studded cast and production team.
