Dandadan English Dub Cast For Momo & Okarun Revealed Ahead Of Anime NYC World Premiere

Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. revealed the English voice cast for the upcoming Dandadan anime on July 29, 2024.

Abby Trott will voice Momo, and AJ Beckles will take on the role of Okarun.

The news comes ahead of the world premiere of the English dub, which will take place at the Main Stage of Anime NYC on Aug 24.

Trott and Beckles will be in attendance along with Shion Wakayama, Natsuki Hanae and MBS producer Hiroyuki Aoi for a panel discussion and the screening.

Abby Trott, known for her roles in Demon Slayer as Nezuko and ZOM 100: Bucket List of the Dead as Shizuka Mikazuki, expressed excitement about her role, stating, “You are not ready for DAN DA DAN…As soon as I saw a clip of Science SARU’s immaculate animation, I knew this was something special. This show is absolutely electric. It’s hilarious, disturbing, beautiful, weird, dramatic, and raw – and I’m so excited to be voicing Momo in the animated telling of this EPIC manga! Ready or not…“

AJ Beckles, who has voiced characters such as Takemichi Hanagaki in Tokyo Revengers and Shiki Tademaru in Kemono Jihen, also shared his enthusiasm.

“Getting to be a part of DAN DA DAN in any way is a dream come true. I’ve been a fan of the manga for a couple of years now,” shared Beckles. “Hanae-san is an incredible actor! The honor of actually being able to play his counterpart as Okarun in the dub was something I never could have imagined being granted to me! Tatsu-san is a master of his craft, and I truly think this is one of those roles/stories that only comes around only once or twice in someone’s life and I am treating it with the utmost respect and care because of that. I can’t wait to show everyone my take on this Awkward fellow, and I want to assure every fan that’s been waiting for this adaptation that they have nothing at all to worry about. This will be a masterpiece!,” he stated.

Dandadan anime produced by Science Saru is set to premiere in October 2024. It will be streamed on Netflix and Crunchyroll.

Main cast members include:

• Shion Wakayama as Momo Ayase
• Natsuki Hanae as Okarun
• Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny
• Kazuya Nakai as Alien Serpo

Fuga Yamashiro will serve as the director of the anime adaptation, with Hiroshi Seko in charge of scripts. Kensuke Ushio will compose the music, and Naoyuki Onda will handle character designs, with Yoshimichi Kameda designing aliens and supernatural entities.

The opening theme, Otonoke, is performed by Creepy Nuts.

Dandadan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service since April 2021, with its chapters collected into 15 tankobon volumes as of July 2024.

The series is simultaneously published in English and Spanish on Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform and in English on Viz Media’s Shonen Jump website.
