During Anime Expo 2023, the joint panel of WIT Studio and Warner Bros. Japan unveiled their highly anticipated collaborative anime project on July 3, 2023.
Putting an end to all the speculations, it has been finally revealed that the series will bring the members of the iconic Suicide Squad into the spotlight, promising an exhilarating adventure in a parallel world.
The anime is titled “Suicide Squad Isekai“.
Anime Expo 2023 also unveiled a teaser visual and announcement trailer for the upcoming anime project.
The anime is directed by Eri Osada, with screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara. Akira Amano will serve as the character design and Kenichiro Suehiro will be in charge of composing the music.
The production of the project will be overseen by Warner Bros. Japan, with animation production handled by WIT Studio.
According to the official website launched as a part of the anime, “the deadly duo of Harley Quinn and The Joker, infamous villains from DC Comics, find themselves transported to a parallel universe in an exhilarating new anime series. The stage is set for an intense and treacherous journey as the Suicide Squad wreaks havoc in the fantasy realm known as ISEKAI”.
WIT Studio, is a Japanese animation studio founded on June 1, 2012, by producers at Production I.G as a subsidiary of IG Port. It is headquartered in Musashino, Tokyo, with Production I.G producer George Wada as president and Tetsuya Nakatake, also a producer at Production I.G., as a director of the studio.
The studio gained notability for producing the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and has also produced other notable series such as Ranking of Kings, Spy × Family, and the first seasons of The Ancient Magus’ Bride and Vinland Saga.
Warner Bros. Japan is the Japanese subsidiary of American company Warner Bros., known for producing Mob Psycho 100, DanMachi, Food Wars, Tonikawa, and others.
