The official website of upcoming two part anime film adaptation of Inio Asano’s Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction announced on Nov 20, 2023, that the first part of the film will release on March 22, 2024, and the second part on April 19, 2024.
Newly announced cast includes:
- YOASOBI’s Lilas Ikuta as Kadode Koyama
- Comment: It’s a work that has a lot of fans, so I felt pressured in a good way and was excited to take on the challenge. There are aspects of Koyamakado that resonate with me a little, and while playing her character, I was able to strongly feel the preciousness of time and conversations with the most important person in the midst of a whirlwind of significant changes in the world.

- Comment: Ontan is a character with an irresistible charm, and although she has an adorable and lovable personality, the occasional glimpses of her genuine expressions and emotions were truly heartwarming. This is my first time working as a voice actor, but Asano-sensei told me, “It’s fine to portray Ontan just as Ano-chan does,” so I played the role with the determination to express Ontan exactly as I envision her.

Tomoyuki Kurokawa will be directing the films, with Reiko Yoshida in charge of scripts. Nobutake Ito will serve as character designer and chief animation director, and Mika Nishimura as the art director. Taro Umebayashi will compose music.
As previously revealed, Production +h. will be producing the anime films. This will be the first ever anime adaptation of Inio Asano’s works.
Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Inio Asano. It was serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Spirits from April 2014 to February 2022, with its chapters collected in 12 tankōbon volumes. In North America, Viz Media licensed the manga for English release.
By March 2022, Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction had over 3 million copies in circulation. In 2021, the manga won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category, as well as the Excellence Award of the 25th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2022.
