Doraemon character Takeshi Gouda, who is better known by his nickname Gian, will be making his debut as a singer on July 20, 2022 with the song ‘Giant Dream’. The debut announcement was made on Gian’s birthday on June 15, 2022.
The song Giant Dream first featured in the episode titled Gian’s Birthday Special, which aired on June 11, 2022 in Japan. Subaru Kimura, who voices Gian in the 2005 version of Doraemon, wrote the lyrics of the song himself and also performed it.
Giant Dream is a song which talks about Gian’s grand dream and is a song that strongly encourages people to move forward to tomorrow, cheering them on.
Along with Giant Dream, Kimura will also perform a renewed version of Gian’s iconic theme song ‘Ore wa Gian-sama da’ or ‘I am Gian the Great’. The renewed version is titled ‘Ore wa Gian-sama da/2022’, and will also be released on July 20. The song was penned by Jian’s voice actor from the 1979 anime, Kazuya Tatekabe.
Additionally, it was announced that a compilation album titled ‘Gian’s Super Recital’, consisting Gian’s solo songs and songs with his friends from Doraemon anime, will be released as a CD on Aug 24, 2022. This will also mark the CD album debut for Gian.
Gian is one of the major characters who appears in Doraemon franchise. He is portrayed both as an antagonist, in episodes where he tries to bully Nobita, and a protagonist, when he teams-up with the other characters or collaborates directly with Doraemon.
Ironically, Gian is shown to be tone-deaf multiple times in the anime, as he sings horrendously and doesn’t seem to be affected by it sometimes.
