Toei Animation’s official Twitter account announced on Sep 12, 2023, that Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods anime film will be returning to the U.S. theatres, and this time with an extended version, as a part of its 10th anniversary.

The extended edition of the film will include an additional 20 minutes of footages added to the original theatrical cut.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods anime film is set to release on Oct 17-18, 2023.

Following the events from the “Dragon Ball Z” television series, after the defeat of Majin Buu, a new power awakens and threatens humanity. Beerus, an ancient and powerful God of Destruction, searches for Goku after hearing rumors of the Saiyan warrior who defeated Frieza. Realizing the threat Beerus poses to their home planet, the Z-fighters must find a way to stop him. Only Goku, humanity’s last hope, can ascend to the level of a legendary Super Saiyan God and stop Beerus from destroying Earth, and possibly the entire universe! Fans of Dragon Ball Z, one of the most successful anime brands of all time, will be delighted to know that Battle of Gods is an original work from the Dragon Ball creator himself, Akira Toriyama.

In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods”, Goku and friends return to the big screen to save Earth in one of the most epic battles of the Dragon Ball franchise, featuring the never-before-seen in theaters Extended Edition cut of the film with an additional 20 minutes to the original theatrical cut.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is a 2013 Japanese animated science fantasy martial arts film, the eighteenth animated feature film based on the Dragon Ball series and nineteenth overall, and the fourteenth to carry the Dragon Ball Z branding, released in theatres on March 30.

A sequel, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, was released in Japan on April 18, 2015.
