First Anniversary of Mamoru Hosoda’s Belle To Be Celebrated With A Cinematic Orchestra

The official website for Studio Chizu announced on Thursday, May 18, 2022, that they will open their first orchestra concert to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Belle anime film by Mamoru Hosoda.

The Studio Chizu Cinematic Orchestra 2022 will be held on Aug 14 at the Tokyo International Forum.

In addition to Belle, the concert will feature famous scenes from other Hosoda movies such as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars, Wolf Children’s, The Boy and the Beast, and Mirai, while the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Hirofumi Kurita performs live music.

Furthermore, Masakatsu Takagi, the composer for “Wolf Children” and “The Boy and the Beast,” will play the piano. Hanako Oku, who performed the theme song “Garnet” and the insert song “Unchangeable Things” in “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,” and Ann, who was in charge of the theme song, “Mother’s Song” for “Wolf Children,” along with Sally will participate as guest vocalists.

Goods using illustrations of main character, Belle, appearing in Ryu to Soba Kasumi no Hime, along with the concert items based on the Studio Chizu works will be on sale.

Studio Chizu is a Japanese animation studio based in Suginami, Tokyo, Japan. It was co-founded by Mamoru Hosoda and Yuichiro Saito in 2011. Studio Chizu has won three Japan Academy Prizes for Animation of the Year awards. The image in their logo is a reference to Makoto Konno, the main character of the Hosoda-directed 2006 film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.
