Gege Akutami Reveals Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Might End In A Year

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s panel at Jump Festa 2023 had a special cryptic message by the author Gege Akutami suggesting that the manga come to an end in a year.

The author thanked the fans for their continued support saying that he would be very happy if the fans could stick with him and continue to enjoy reading Jujutsu Kaisen for a year.

“Gege-chan would be so happy if you could stay with me and continue to enjoy my work for about another year (maybe).”

He also stated that he would continue drawing “nonsensical things that make no sense”.

Akutami had previously said in an interview in 2021 that Jujutsu Kaisen manga would end in two years in 2023 if everything goes according to plan.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga is supposed to have three major arcs according to Akutami. It is currently in its second major arc, namely the “Culling Game Arc”. The first major arc was “Shibuya Arc”.

The Jump Festa Jujutsu Kaisen panel also revealed that season 2 of the anime will air in July 2023, along with a character introduction video.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2018, with its chapters collected and published in 21 tankobon volumes as of December 2022.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a sequel to Akutami’s Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, serialized in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April to July 2017, later collected in a tankōbon volume, retroactively titled as Jujutsu Kaisen 0, in December 2018.

Jujutsu Kaisen is licensed for English-language release in North America by Viz Media.

As of August 2022, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga had over 70 million copies in circulation, including related novels, digital versions and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time.

A 24 episode anime adaptation by MAPPA aired from October 2020 to March 2021.

A movie adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 premiered in Japan in December 2021. It had crossed the 10 billion yen mark in Japanese box office in 43 days, earning about 10,456,322,400 yen (about US$90.6 million) from 7,603,732 tickets on its 45th day.
