The official website of the upcoming Golden Kamuy live-action film revealed a new trailer on Oct 17, 2023, featuring footages from the main storyline.
Accompanying the trailer is a new visual with the tagline “Fierce ones, compete for it“.
The website also revealed two new cast members the roles of Saichi Sugimoto’s childhood friends- Umeko and Toraji.

I had originally read the source material, so the fact that the world of “Golden Kamuy” was being adapted into a live-action format was a huge surprise to me. Umeko plays a significant role in why Sugimoto-san gets involved in the gold hunt, so even though her screentime is limited, the responsibility is substantial. When I received the offer, I couldn’t help but break a little sweat. I had previously worked with Kento Yamazaki in a movie, and his wonderful and charming personality from back then remains, but in this project, he added a new level of toughness. He was an excellent leader. I was only able to be on set for a few days, so I’m looking forward to the final product just like everyone else!

I had originally read the source material for “Golden Kamuy,” so when I heard that I would be a part of this project, I was truly delighted. And when I learned about the cast, I couldn’t contain my excitement, wondering who would play this character! The anticipation just kept growing.
This marks my first time working with Kento Yamazaki, but given the roles of Satoru Sugimoto and his childhood friend Toraji, we were able to quickly establish a good rapport. The war scenes we fight together are very powerful, and I believe there will be scenes worth watching. Please look forward to it!

CREDEUS is in charge of the film’s production. Shigeaki Kubo will serve as the director, with Tsutomu Kuroiwa handling the script. Yutaka Yamada will compose the music for the film.
Golden Kamuy live-action film is set to release on Jan 19, 2024.
Golden Kamuy is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Noda. It was serialized in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump from August 2014 to April 2022, with its chapters collected in thirty-one tankōbon volumes.
An anime television series adaptation produced by Geno Studio aired with two seasons from April to December 2018. A third season aired from October to December 2020. A fourth season produced by Brain’s Base aired from October 2022 to June 2023. A fifth season adapting the manga’s final arc has been announced.
