‘Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle At The Garbage Dump’ Surpasses 4.18 Billion Yen At Japanese Box Office

Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle At The Garbage Dump’ film continued its impressive box office run in Japan both in terms of the revenue garnered and audience attendance in its first ten days of release.

According to Kogyo Tsushin, the film has garnered over 2.9 million attendees and 4.18 billion yen in revenue within just ten days. The film has gone on to surpass the 3.8 billion yen earned by ‘THE FIRST SLAM DUNK‘ film within the same time frame.

Commenting on the film’s success, a representative from Toho stated, “We are thrilled to see ‘Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle At The Garbage Dump’ achieve such incredible results in its first week of release. The enthusiasm and support from fans have been truly remarkable.

The movie had earned an impressive 2.23 billion yen in box office revenue within just three days of its release, It was the highest first-week box office revenue for a 2024 release in Japan.

The first part of the two-part Haikyu!! FINAL films, titled  Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, released on Feb 16, 2024.

Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump picked up from where the fourth season left off, which included the match against Inarizaki high, and will focus on the “Spring Tournament 3rd round: Karasuno High vs. Nekoma High” arc of the manga.

Susumu Mitsunaka serves as the director as well as the scriptwriter for the anime film. SPYAIR performed the theme song  “Orange”.

It was previously revealed that the film will feature cheers from 10,000 fans, which will be used in the movie for the cheering crowd.

Haikyu!! is created by Haruichi Furudate and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020. The series has over 55 million copies in circulation. It has 45 volumes containing 405 chapters.

The first season of the TV anime aired from April 2014 to September 2014. The second season aired from October 2015 to March 2016. The third season aired from October 2016 to December 2016.

The season 4 of the series aired in two cours, the first cour aired in January 2020 whereas the second cour aired from October to December 2020.
