Following Hajime Isayama’s revelation that the ending of the Attack On Titan will slightly deviate from the manga, he revealed a heartfelt message apologizing to all the animators involved in the final episode of the anime.
Isayama, while recognizing the challenge presented by the climax scene in the original manga, empathized with the MAPPA animators considering the difficulties that they might encounter.
“The climax scene that happens in the last half of the final season was very hard to draw in the original manga, as well, so I couldn’t help but think, ‘This is going to be rough for MAPPA’. MAPPA is probably thinking, ‘Please stop.’ I’m sorry, MAPPA. I’m really sorry.“
Additionally, director Yuichiro Hayashi also commented on the finale of the Attack on Titan anime, taking a moment to share the dedication the staff had invested in the series over the last four years.
He also encouraged the fans to fully immerse themselves in the finale, which includes of a new script from Isayama-sensei, heartfelt performances from the actors, and the selection of perfectly fitting music.
“The anime ‘Attack on Titan’ is finally heading toward its finale. These last four years, I faced this project every single day going, “Fight… Fight…” We put everything we could possibly think of into this, and I believe the final footage is just a compilation of all of our passion. A new script from Isayama-sensei, the actors’ soul-filled performances, the absolute perfect pieces of music. Please experience all of this!“
Despite the immense challenges, Isayama revealed that he is eagerly awaiting the final result, expressing genuine excitement to witness the climax’s depiction in the anime adaptation.
