Horizons in the UK • Anime UK News
The UK premiere of Pokémon: Horizons will take place on BBC iPlayer in December.
The Official Pokémon YouTube channel put out a trailer for the series today, which is the first regular series in the franchise not to focus on Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu. It instead focuses on two new characters: a girl from Paldea named Liko and her Sprigatito, and a boy from Kanto called Roy and his Fuecoco.
Since 2021, the BBC has been adding old episodes of Pokémon to the BBC iPlayer, broadcasting episodes on CBBC, and even airing episodes on Saturday mornings on BBC Two. So far the iPlayer has included the Generation IV Diamond and Pearl seasons, the Generation V Black and White seasons, and the Generation VII Sun and Moon seasons. Earlier this month, the BBC iPlayer also added the Generation VI X and Y seasons too, with CBBC scheduled to screen the movie Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction on 17th November at 17:45.
With the inclusion of Horizons, this will mean that the BBC will be the home of the largest collection of legally streamable Pokémon episodes in the UK, even beating the Pokémon TV app, which shows Generation I, VII, VIII, and rotates between other old seasons, with Season 6 from Generation III appearing on the app last week, replacing all of Generation II.
