Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick movie and its three sequels, recently made an unofficial announcement which is sure the make the fans of the franchise rejoice.
Joining an episode of The Discourse Podcast, the director talked in depth about the content that is currently being developed around the John Wick movies, including the recent prequel series The Continental, and his meagre involvement in it.
During the course of this discussion, Stahelski revealed that John Wick‘s anime adaptation was currently in the works. According to him, this anime adaptation is separate from a TV Series for John Wick which is currently being developed along with Lionsgate.
Based on what Stahelski, who stated his love for anime, revealed in the podcast, John Wick‘s anime adaptation could also be a TV Series. He was of the opinion that the stories that will be adapted will be best portrayed through the medium of Japanese anime.
“So we’re really looking forward to that; we’re really excited about it because we’re doing [a TV show] and a Japanese anime because I love Japanese anime so much,” Stahelski said in the podcast. “So to create all the cool stories that anime could achieve better than we could and the TV show to expand our world, we’ll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we’ll still have all the fun.”
No further details about the anime adaptation has been revealed yet.
John Wick is the latest addition in the list of big franchises getting an anime adaptation. The other recent ones include Devil May Cry, Scott Pilgrim, and even DC’s Suicide Squad.
