KADOKAWA announced the launch of the Wordless World Manga Contest, a competition inviting manga artists from across the globe to submit works without speech bubbles or text.

The contest, open from October 4, 2024, to February 28, 2025, offers aspiring manga creators the opportunity to win cash prizes up to $10,000 and potentially secure a manga serialization in Japan.

The contest aims to break down language barriers, inviting artists to submit visually compelling stories that rely solely on artistic expression. Entrants can submit works ranging from eight to sixty pages.

The contest features two categories: the Themed Manga Award and the Original Manga Award.

  • Themed Manga Award: Participants are tasked with reinterpreting the story of Don Quixote, with the freedom to modify the setting, time period, and characters.
  • Original Manga Award: Participants can submit original, wordless manga in any genre, including action, comedy, romance, and horror.

The top prize for each category is $10,000 USD, with additional silver and bronze prizes of $5,000 and $3,000 respectively.

Winners will also gain the chance to collaborate with KADOKAWA editors. Additionally, their works will be featured on KADOKAWA’s manga portal, KADOCOMI, and will be invited to an award ceremony in Japan.

The winning works will be reviewed by renowned manga creators including Ranmaru Kotone (your name.), Minoji Kurata (The Apothecary Diaries), and Isuna Hasekura (Spice And Wolf).
