Megan Thee Stallion has once again showcased her love for the anime medium, this time by referencing the popular series Attack On Titan in her latest song ‘Wanna Be’ in collaboration with GloRilla.

‘Wanna Be,’ which was released on April 6, 2024, featured a verse, “I’m the female titan, I’m steppin’ on bitches I’m showin’ my titties, I tore up the city,” which immediately caught the attention of fans and anime enthusiasts alike, who recognized it as a playful nod to the character Annie Leonhart from Attack On Titan, who transforms into the Female Titan.

The annotation accompanying the lyric on Genius.com further explains the connection, noting that the Female Titan is known for wreaking havoc in the city in season 1.

The song has reached no. 1 on US iTunes. It also crossed 1 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.

This isn’t the first time the rapper made an anime reference, as in the past she had referenced Pokemon and Naruto in her songs.

Megan Thee Stallion’s love for anime is well known, and she has spoken about it in numerous interviews. In a recent one with GQ she revealed that My Hero Academia is her favorite anime. Her love for anime also extends beyond just watching it. She is also well known for cosplaying the characters.

When she landed in Japan for the Crunchyroll Anime Awards, she stunned fans with her take on Gojo Satoru. She was one of the presenters at the awards. Additionally, last Halloween, she transformed into Death the Kid from Soul Eater.
