‘MHA Shippuden’: My Hero Academia’s Secret Project Has The Fandom Buzzing With Speculations
My Hero Academia fandom is currently buzzing with excitement and speculation as the series gears up to reveal a secret project on Aug 5, 2024.
This announcement comes as part of the franchise’s ongoing commemorative projects to celebrate the manga’s conclusion, which includes digital manuscript app service, final volume (#42) set to release on Dec 4, Fan Book releasing in January 2025, Special Exhibition in Summer 2025, and Art Book in April 2025.
While the possibility of an art book has created significant hype, it was the upcoming announcement of the secret project that has sparked a wave of excitement and speculation among fans.
One of the most popular theories is the possibility of a MHA sequel akin to Naruto Shippuden, terming it as ‘MHA Shippuden’.
The possibility of exploring the lives of the characters as professional heroes has also generated significant interest.
On the other hand, there are also speculations that the project might be related to My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
The anticipation has led to a range of predictions about the nature of the secret project. Fans have floated ideas including:
- A spinoff series exploring loose ends and new storylines.
- A follow-up series focusing on the class as adults or a new generation of heroes.
- Additional movies, possibly similar to The Last or Boruto style.
- An anime adaptation of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes.
- A series of OVAs offering more character development and side stories.
- A special crossover with Marvel, blending the worlds of two iconic superhero franchises.
While fans have to wait for a few more days for the unveiling of the much anticipated secret project regardless of whether it will meet their expectations or not, one thing that is for sure is the desire for a continuation is strong among the fanbase.
Kohei Horikoshi started serializing the manga in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump in July 2014. Its chapters have been collected in 41 tankobon volumes as of August 2024.
The series has numerous spin-off manga, including My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.
It has also been adapted into an anime television series by Bones. The first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, a fifth season from March to September 2021, a sixth season from October 2022 to March 2023, and a seventh season which premiered in May 2024.
It has also received three animated films, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, and nine original video animations (OVAs).
A fourth animated film, titled My Hero Academia: You’re Next, is set to be released in August 2024.
