Crunchyroll has officially announced in the Anime Expo 2022 that My Hero Academia Season 5 OVAs will stream on the site on Aug 1, 2022, at 5:00am PT (8:00 a.m. EDT).

It’ll be streamed in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, LATAM, and Europe (excluding French-speaking countries).

Streaming giant Crunchyroll revealed on June 7, 2022, the anime premiere line-up for the Anime Expo 2022 event including, North American, international and world premieres debuting before the Japanese release.

My Hero Academia Season 5 original video animation (OVAs) titled HLB (Hero League of Baseball) and Laugh! As if you are in hell were screened on July 1 at 12:00 p.m. PDT.

The first OVA, titled HLB, revolves around a baseball game involving the pro-heroes and students with the rule that the players can use their quirks.

The second OVA is chronologically set in the timeline of the Endeavor Office Intern Arc from the fifth season of the anime, and deals with an incident that takes place in Endeavor’s jurisdiction during this time period.

Laugh! As If You’re In Hell’ was pre-screened, along with ‘HLB’, in Japanese theatres from June 16 – June 19, 2022 in commemoration of the Hero Day which is celebrated on June 16 in Japan every year. The episodes were screened in ten theatres across Japan, including the TOHO cinemas in Shinjuku and Ikebukuro.

My Hero Academia is a Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi.

The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters collected into 34 tankōbon volumes as of May 2022. The series has also inspired numerous spin-off manga like My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.

The manga has received an anime television adaptation by Studio Bones. Its first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, and a fifth season from March to September 2021.

It has also received three animated films, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission respectively. There are plans for a live-action film by Legendary Entertainment.

As of January 2022, My Hero Academia has over 65 million copies in circulation worldwide.
