Netflix reveals a new trailer for “The Imaginary”, the new film by Studio Ponoc




A colorful gang of forgotten imaginary friends defy the grim omens of reality in the energetic and extravagant new trailer for The Imaginaryrevealed by Netflix this Thursday. It is in English subtitled in Spanish:

Directed by the famous animator Yoshiyuki Momose (modest heroes), The Imaginary is an unforgettable adventure of love, loss, and the healing power of imagination. The production is carried out by the Japanese studio Studio Ponoc (Mary and the witch’s flower), with an animation completely done by hand.

Momose, who previously directed the segment Life Ain’t Gonna Lose for the anthology modest heroes by Ponoc and the short Tomorrow’s Leaves of the Tokyo Olympics, directs from a script by the two-time Oscar nominee Yoshiaki Nishimura (The Tale of Princess Kaguya, The memory of Marnie), who also acts as a producer.

The Imaginary features a theme song performed by A Great Big World with Rachel Platten, “Nothing’s Impossible“.

What is The Imaginary about?

Synopsis: The Imaginary, by Studio Ponoc, portrays the depths of humanity and creativity through the eyes of young Amanda and her imaginary companion, Rudger, a boy no one can see and whom Amanda has imagined to share her exciting imaginary adventures. But when Rudger, suddenly alone, arrives in The City of the Imaginaries, where the forgotten Imaginaries live and find work, he faces a mysterious threat.

The story is based on the award-winning novel of the same name by the English poet and writer A.F. Haroldwhich features illustrations by Emily Gravett (published by Bloomsbury Publishing).
