The trailer features ending theme song “Get Wild Continual” by TM Network, the band behind “Get Wild,” the ending theme song for the TV anime’s first season.
Originally a manga by Tsukasa Hojo, City Hunter follows private detective and “sweeper” Ryo Saeba, whose associate Hideyuki Makimura is murdered by gangsters. This leaves him to take care of Makimura’s younger sister, Kaori, who also becomes his new partner.
The manga debuted in 1985, followed by a TV anime adaptation that began in 1987. It also received a series of anime films.
The upcoming film is the franchise’s first Japanese live action film. Directed by Yuichi Sato, it will star Ryohei Suzuki as Ryo and Misato Morita as Kaori.
Netflix’s live action City Hunter film will stream worldwide on Netflix from April 25, 2024.
