Pingüino Highway arrives at Cinemex theaters




The Mexican distributor Kora International has finally announced the release date of the long-awaited film Penguin Highway (Penguin Highway), the film adaptation of the original novel by Tomohiko Morimi, which premiered in Japanese theaters in 2018.

Almost a year ago, Cinemex announced the premiere, by publishing the official trailer dubbed into Latin American Spanish on its social networks. Since then, fans have been waiting for the release date, which has finally been set for next June 27, 2024confirming that the film will be screened exclusively in Cinemex theaters.

Penguin Highway is the second film by director Hiroyasu Ishida, with a script by Makoto Ueda and music by Umitaro Abe. The animation is in charge of Colorful Studio, this being his third film and the last before his co-production agreement with Netflix. The dubbing into Latin American Spanish was done by Kora Studio, under the direction of Arturo Cataño and with the translation by Luis Leonardo Suárez. The main voices correspond to Oliver Díaz as Aoyama, Carla Castañeda as “Señorita”, Tenyo Balzanny as Uchida, and Fanny Piedra as Hamamoto.

The story follows Aoyama, a precocious child with a remarkable capacity for analysis and rhetoric, who has counted the exact number of days until he is an adult. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when his town is invaded by penguins.

The premiere has been confirmed in all Cinemex theaters in Mexico. The release in other countries on the continent has not yet been reported, but any new information will be communicated in due course. It is worth remembering that Cinemex has scheduled cinema re-releases of classic anime films during this month, in its so-called Sci-Fi Cyclebeing the first of them Akirascheduled for June 13thnext to Paprika and Cowboy Bebop: The Movie which will be screened simultaneously on June 20. All performances are expected to be subtitled only.
