One of the most anticipated dubbing of this season was that of Chainsaw Mananime is a worldwide phenomenon and of course the orange platform was going to localize it to enjoy it in our language.
The direction is in charge of Octavio Campos, which brought together a luxury cast; in Denji’s voice we have Emilio Trevino and the interpretation of Makima is carried out by the talented Gaby Gray. In beautiful Power we have erika langarica and in Aki we have Arturo Cataño.
In general terms, the dubbing was more than well accepted, and to confirm this I refer to the surveys we do weekly, where the chainsaw boy came in fourth place; beating big series like World Trigger or Katekyo Hitman Reborn, which had been dominating the votes. But like any ‘mainstream’ product, it had a curious controversy recently.
What happened?
The chapter that was one step away from the podium in the polls was the third, which received criticism on social networks due to a particular scene in which power asks for help Denji in exchange for her allowing herself to be groped by him. This completely changes Denji’s speech, who was first refusing, to accept and offer her help. Power is surprised to see Denji’s determination and makes some curious sounds of surprise in Japanesebut in the Latin dubbing, they turned into moans giving a 180 degree turn to the scene, which had a comic end in the first instance.
This curious turn generated several comments on the networks, some ‘happy’ for this fan service and others more ‘purists’ a bit angry, some to highlight may be:
- “Is this the dubbing of Chainsaw man? Excuse me but it seems lousy to me”
- “Chainsaw man dubbing is dangerous if you have the volume up”
- “Is the girl moaning? Not even in the case of the situation”
- “First time hearing these voices in Latin, and I’m glad to be seeing it in the original language”
- “The mega shit on the dubbing the truth”

Synopsis for Chainsaw Man
The story takes place in a world where Demons threaten the peace of humans, making them targets to be eliminated. Denji is a depressed young man who has sold several of his organs and works as a lumberjack and demon hunter to pay off his late father’s debt. Denji owns a dog (which is also a demon) named Pochita, who has chainsaws and which he uses to do his work.
This is explained because humans can make contracts with demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a Yakuza to infiltrate a building and kill another demon. However, the plan was a trap to assassinate him as part of a Yakuza contract with the demon, gaining them more power. But Pochita comes to Denji’s aid and bonds with him, becoming a half-man, half-demon and acquiring Pochita’s chainsaws.
