Rent A Girlfriend Season 2 Episode 6 Discussion (Episode26)

I need to stop trying to assume what the next episodes will be, because I believe that I think too vividly for what the creators are currently putting out.  This episode was called Booze and Girlfriend and I can safely say after watching it that it was nothing like what my head imagined it might be. 

We open this episode to see Kazuya looking under the separator between his and Chizuru’s balconies. He is looking to see if she has gotten the gift. He hears her come outside so he says good morning and she replies.   Then he starts freaking out about the gift he gave her.  Saying how it was a boomer gift to give to someone as hot as her, during her freakout she says thanks for yesterday, meaning the gift!  She says the plums were good, (Kazuya is all happy about this and drifts off into this celebration scene in his head) but then she says even though it did feel like a geezer-ish gift. Bringing him right back down to earth. She also tells him that placing it directly on her balcony was crossing boundaries. But then says she will let it slide because it’s a gift from a neighbor (why even mention it if you are only going to say it is ok in the long run) 

Then being the idiot that he is HE MENTIONS RUKA AGAIN! Chizuru stops him right there and says it’s too early for this. She winds up saying that she believes him, meaning that there is nothing going on with him and Ruka and then tells him to give it a rest.  I assume she is saying this so he will finally shit up about it. 

Also, again he says that he is thinking about renting her again.  That’s something else he needs to stop.  If you are going to do it, just do it. As he is saying how he wants to rent her to formally celebrate her birthday she mentions that she cannot on the day that he wants to because she got offered to go out drinking with some college friends. 

Intro

First off before we go any further, I want to point out that Kazuya’s friends are super weird! Right after the intro that one friend was talking about Kazuya’s dick and just basically keeps that same energy throughout this entire episode. Even Kazuya mentions that he should rethink his friendship with him. Then he starts asking Kazuya if he has hooked up with Chizuru yet.  Remember his friends all met her at the beach so timeframe wise in his friend’s eyes Kazuya has been with Chizuru for a year. He goes yeah, we did. Then the creepy friend invites Kazuya to a “Boozer” that night. I put two and two together right here and knew exactly what was about to happen. 

As they get to the place where they will be drinking, one of the guys mentions that the girls are already there further confirming what i thought was about to happen to be true…  Boom they enter the room where they will be hanging out and Kazuys sees that Chizuru is there. Now she is in her normal life attire, so she has her glasses on. They both kind of stare at each other for a little while in shock! One of the friends even notices this and asks if they knew each other. Kazuya quickly redirects that conversation by pointing out that these were all the same people from the beach scene way back in season one. Turns out one of Kazuya’s friends has started talking to one of the girls from the beach after that day and that’s how they got invited to the boozer, then by association Kazuya got his invite. We learn that Chizuru just turned 20 the past week when it was her birthday so she could Legally drink. (I guess it is her first-time drinking) although later in the episode I do wind up questioning that. As they are all clapping and saying congrats on adulthood to her, I love how Kazuya looks all mad, but he is still clapping.  

As the party is going Everyone turns their attention to Chizuru and starts haggling at her about being so quiet and how she’s a stick in the mud. One of her gal pals says how there isn’t even signs of any relationships blossoming, the camera cuts to Kazuya and he’s like Yeah, she has hindered those (In his head of course) THENNNNN her friend starts jiggling her titties! Saying how it’s such a shame because she’s so stacked!!  WTF. Everyone is all shocked, Kazuya literally spits out his drink! Chizuru jumps back and she’s like your drunk chill out.  Then the guys are quickly doing other things to make it seem like they didn’t just see that, ones ordering food, ones stretching, ones looking at his phone, Kazuya is chugging his beer violently. 

One of the girls winds up calling her Chizuru which puts Kazuya on edge because he is afraid his friends will piece it together. And then they slightly start to! One of the friends is like, wait didn’t you say Chizuru’s birthday was last week also! Both Kazuya and Chizuru panic! They are like yeah strange coincidence. Then one of Chizuru’s girl pals takes her glasses off! This sends them further into panic because now they are both sure that Kazuya’s friends will put it together. Thankfully they are drunk and dumb, so they do not. 

They start playing this game called the Bamboo shoot drinking game and right here for this scene I have to Give a big thumbs up to Kazuya for what he will do. Chizuru loses a round and has to chug a drink, Kazuya notices that she at this rate will never be able to keep up drinking like that and knows his friends are trolling her.  SO, to avoid having her get too drunk and get sick he proceeds to lose the next handful of rounds. That way he would be the one who got sick over her. Chizuru realizes what he is doing while it’s happening too. 

After the booze fest everyone is either heading home or going to the strip club they are like where are you going Kazuya, he’s like HOME…  At this point he is PLASTERED.  He’s trying to walk, and he can barely stand, he mentions how it is all starting to hit him now.   (I related so much to this scene, and I’ve been in this exact situation so many times before that it made me feel a little sick) He remembers in his drunken stew that this has technically happened once before with Mami when he was drunk, and she basically walked him home. Back in season one when they were at the same place i think it was and they were drinking. Obviously now he is SUPER drunk, and he is thinking about how much trouble he always causes Chizuru, He says to himself she must be so mad. Then he falls over, and we see an arm grab his. ITS CHIZURU! As everyone split off to go their separate ways, she noticed Kazuya trying to head home and followed him knowing no one would be around there any more to see. She walks him home, which is sweet aside from dropping him on his face down the stairs at their apartments.  This dude is all bleeding after saying how he is fine….

He thinks about how pathetic it is that he would have even made it home without her help… But at least it was him and not her. She unlocks his door for him because he is so drunk, he can’t even do that.  (Been there) She gets him inside. As he is on the floor he literally thinks (In a rom-com this would be the perfect situation) having the girl you like in your apartment after a night of drinking. 2 things to point out here. 1 Is the show self-aware! And 2 if you think you’re about to get it in after that hard of a night of drinking you have another thing coming.  OFFICIAL ANIMAG ADVICE just go to sleep when you are that drunk.  Because you’re either going to look dumb or wind up embarrassing yourself. 

He runs into the bathroom to puke! She follows him just to make sure he is ok. With his head in the toilet and her sitting on his floor she even mentions that him drinking that much was on purpose. he tries to blow it off, but she even says that she is surprised the rest of them there didn’t catch on. He says you hold your alcohol well, you’re basically sober and she says who knows i can’t even tell.  Was that her first-time drinking? As she gets up to leave, he says that he just figured how he’s always causing trouble for her; he should at least look out for her even if it kills him, meaning the drinking. Then she rubs his back for him, as he pukes his guts up.  He freaks out a little bit and tries to say that he is ok, she says don’t try to bluff your way out of this.  Then we see him head in the toilet so drunk that he’s literally crying. (I’ve been there) then he finally pukes. She’s still rubbing his back while this is happening. After he finishes puking, he turns around and sort of motions over towards Chizuru! I thought he was going to kiss her! BUT instead, he just falls onto her kind of pinning her against the wall while sitting down, she’s freaking out a little bit and she’s like I’ll smack you! But realized this dude is PASSED out snoring, blowing his nasty puke breath in her face. (Again, I’ve been there) She thinks about what he said, how he wanted to protect her there even if it would kill him. Then says She’s no booze for you for a while then the credits roll.   Will she stay the night??????? 

After credits it seems like he is going to be super hungover, we see Mami, and we also see Ruka. Ruka looked jealous that Kazuya was talking to Mami. The episode is called Ex and Girlfriend.
