Rent A Girlfriend Season 2 Episode 7 Discussion (Episode27)

There is a lot before the intro roll on this episode. 

Obviously we start by seeing the aftermath of the night before. Kazuya is deathly hungover, he claims that he does not remember anything after the 5th bamboo shooty. So he isn’t too sure that Chizuru was even actually at his house but claims that he has a feeling. Then his phone goes off and he gets an invite to a group chat, probably on something like Facebook or twitter. He notices that Chizuru is in it and freaks out because this is a personal line directly to her, note that the only way he can currently talk to her via text is through the rent a girlfriend app. He goes to add her as a friend from that group chat and then decides against it because he figures that she would just wind up denying the request anyways. As his thumb hovers over the add friend button he says I can’t be too aggressive here which I think is a smart move.  He just got an invite into this chat. If the first thing he does is add Chizuru before even saying a word in that chat it would seem desperate. 

Cut to him walking around at school, They all had a mandatory class to attend the next day after drinking which must have sucked.  He runs into the gang from the night before, they call him green man and then say that he looks more blue than green pointing out that he is obviously hungover. He notices that Chizuru is not with the girls.  He asks about her and they say that Chizuru just wanted to fly solo for the day, claiming that she was still mad that they had invited boys to the pub. 

Then he is back at his apartment.  He drags himself over to the fridge to try and hydrate, he probably does not remember this but Chizuru told him the night before that hydration was key to overcoming a hangover. He opens his fridge to see a bottle of juice with a message on it saying Drunkard (what is that?) Needless to say he realizes that Chizuru was the one who left this for him. He falls over in his kitchen with a blanket around him confused because he really does not know what the truth is.  Did Chizuru help him the night before or didn’t she? (We know that she did obviously) THEN we see Chizuru in her apartment looking at her phone with Kazyuas profile page from the group chat open and SHE was looking at the add friend button. She sighs and then BAM Intro roll 

After the intro the episode opens with Kazuya and Ruka at work.  She is giving him the death stare When Kazuya finally asks why she has been staring at him she says well don’t you have anything to say to me? He is confused by this, She basically says that it is time he made up his mind about going out with her for real, then says surely Chizuru won’t get in the way of that after she probably heard them spend a passionate night together. Then Kazuya is like oh that turned out ok she wound up believing me that nothing happened , this throws Ruks into her first mini breakdown of the episode… More to come on that.  Right at the end of this Ruka mentions that Kazuya and Chizuru have gotten closer.  So not only are we as the viewers seeing it but some of the cast is also. 

Then they are interrupted, MAMI walks in. Obviously Kazuya is shitting his pants at this point, because Ruks just finished going off on him about Chizuru and nowwwww she is about to see Mami. So he plays it off and is like oh you do solo Karaoke often? To which she replies with oh no i’m here to study. We learn that Kazuya’s friend, the weird one, told Mami where he was working….  Then she is like so I was in the area and decided I’d drop by and mess with you.  Then goes Just kidding..  She knows exactly what she is doing. She even mentions that she has been there before and says it was just with a friend.  But we all know it was with mami because Kazuya was working there when it happened and saw.  He does not mention this to her though. Looking on from the distance was Ruka. She asks if Kazuya knows this girl, he says oh she’s just a girl that goes to the same college as me. Ruka notices how much they are talking while he is taking Mami to her room This makes her a little mad, because as much as I don’t like ruka i will say that she is not a dumb girl.   Inside of the room Mami mentions to Kazuya that they actually went do karaoke together twice, I suppose to just get him thinking about the good old times. Because he does and says how back then he was trying to hide the fact that he was nervous to be in the room with her. You know back when he actually liked Mami. The problem here is that Ruka was standing half way in the door looking at all this. They notice her.  This is where things start to get wild. Kazuya starts being weird because he’s nervous that Ruka may have heard too much.  At this point she does not know that Mami is his x.  So he’s like if something is up we can go talk outside. She looks at both of them and straight up asks, so what kind of relationship do you two have? Kazuya freaks because now he knows that she suspects something. Mami says oh just normal classmates, right Kazuya.  He goes oh yea!!!! Mami knows what’s up here I think. Then instead of letting it all settle Mami asks Ruka why she asked and then goes oh do YOU like Kazuya?? She even calls her ribbons. Of course Ruka replies well we are actually then Kazuya puts his hands over her mouth and Mami is like what’s all that about, he goes oh our boss banned her from chatting at work.. Ruka starts to wonder why he is doing this, and notices that he is panicking at this point. Then being crazy Ruka she puts two and two together and realizes that Mami is his X. she goes ballistic in her head! Narrowing it down that she may actually be in third palace compared to Chizuru and Mami.  (I agree with that) She finally blurts it out.  We’re dating , then she’s like I know you are his x and that does not matter anymore because he belongs to me now. She keeps ranting about how she is not important to him anymore and all sorts of other shit and Mami just sits there and lets her say it all. Then in retaliation she just simply says oh Kazuya you have a real girlfriend? So why do you need a rental girlfriend, Meaning Chizuru. Ruka looks back at him, almost seeming confused, but she is well aware of the Chizuru situation. Then she says to Miami oh well that just shows how accepting I am.  Like no girl you look like a damn fool. Kazyua steps in here and is like i told you it’s just social research. She says sorry and then leaves. I don’t think she was even there to study she had a motive (We will slightly see later) 

As Mami leaves Kazuya turns to Ruka and is like What was with that outburst?! Then she starts crying saying how she is his girlfriend, and how she loves him more than anyone else. This scene did make me a little sad for Ruka.  But then I quickly snapped out of it. 

After that we go to Mami who is walking away from the place and she is clearly aggravated by what she has learned. Two guys try to talk to her as she is walking past them and she is basically like piss off. Then she is on the train thinking about the interaction, she calls Ruka a kid and is like what’s wrong with her is she out of her mind? Then she thinks about seeing the bag in Kazuya’s apartment from a previous episode and questions if it was Rukas, she even questions if she is really his girlfriend seeing how off he was acting. She says would he really go out with that Nutcase?!  But she isn’t quite convinced about the bag being for Ruka as it was designer and seemed like it was more for an adult woman than a teen. BOOM enter Chizuru! She is waiting to get onto the train! Mami notices the bag!!  So now she knows that it was Chizurus’ bag at Kazuya’s apartment. 

We see a little flashback here to when she was talking to Kazuya’s friend finding out where he worked and he was giving her all sorts of information about how Kazuya’s family all met Chizuru and so on. Thus leading me to believe that she did not go there to study but to ask his other coworkers questions.  But it turned out that Ruka was the other coworker so maybe she got a little more information than she was prepared for. 

Back on the train Mami is wondering if Chizuru was in the apartment when she saw the bag , so she starts questioning Chizuru about it. Asking how long she had it for early April or late April. Chizuru is like uh early April… 

At the train station they both go off on their separate ways and Mami is like wait, she ask Chizuru if she is still seeing Kazuya to which Chizuru replies with no. (Wonder why) Then they just show Mamis face and she looks crazy, I guess this is because she knows Chizuru is lying. And she goes ok got it. And walks away. Chizuru is left confused, saying was that a coincidence? 

Credit roll

After the credit roll Mami is sitting there looking at her laptop thinking about how it was indeed Chizuru’s bag. She is like why was her bag at his apartment did she forget it? Who forgets their bag? Was she there back then? Then says either way they are way closer than rental gf and client (Will she do something to get Chizuru fired) She even thinks about Ruka and wonders if Kazuya is two timing both girls. Despite knowing that Ruka knows about Chizuru. So goes on what looked like twitter to do some snooping, she had to unblock Ruka which is weird. Did she already know who Ruka was??!  Cant see nothing on her profile anyways because it was locked. Then sees a page for a Sake shop And says OH his family huh then follows it!  Remember his family owns a sake shop! She is on some devious shit! 

For the next episode preview it looked like he was going to rent Chizuru again, but aside from that I really can’t tell what is about to happen.  Seemed like Ruka and Mami were asking Kazuya a question about something Chizuru said about them then he says they ran away..    The title will be Youth and Girlfriend so we know Ruka will be in the episode.
