Sanda, manga by the creator of Beastars, will be adapted into anime

Coinciding with the conclusion of the story in this year’s 32nd issue of Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine, a website was opened on Wednesday to announce that the green light has been given for an anime adaptation of the manga. SANDAof Paru Itagakiknown for creating the manga Beastars.

The “unconventional action hero Santa Claus” manga tells the story of adults and children in a near-future with a declining birth rate. An ordinary boy named Sanda discovers that one of his classmates, Shiori Fuyumura, is trying to kill him, due to the disappearance of Fuyumura’s friend and a certain “curse” that Sanda carries.

Although details of the technical team, or cast of voices, were revealed, it was confirmed that Science SARU (Eizouken, Scott Pilgrim takes the leap) will be in charge of the animation of the project.

Itagaki launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion in July 2021. Akita Shoten published the manga’s first compiled book volume in December 2021, and the 14th volume on June 7. The 15th volume will ship on August 7.

For now, the Sanda anime also does not have an estimated release date.
