The official website of Shonen Jump+’s World Maker app, a free service that allows users to produce storyboards, announced on Nov 8, 2023, that they have teamed up with Neflix to launch a new short anime film contest, titled “Netflix × World Maker Anime Contest“.
Interested participants have to submit their storyboards that are created through the “World Maker” platform. The content should not be longer than 10 minutes.
The submitted content should be original works that have not been published in commercial magazines, commercial websites, or comics, as any works commercially announced or that are submitted to other companies will be excluded from consideration.
The submission deadline for the “Netflix × World Maker Anime Contest” is Jan 8, 2024.
The grand prize winner of the contest will be awarded with 500,000 yen (approximately US$3,300), and the winning entry will be adapted into an anime by Netflix.

It was previously revealed that several contests will be held to commemorate the launch of World Maker app, including the “World Maker Anime Storyboard Contest,” co-hosted by the Shonen Jump+ editorial department and Netflix, as well as the “World Maker Movie Storyboard Contest,” co-hosted by Toho.
Shonen Jump+ launched World Maker app on July 2, 2023.
It allows users to create storyboards for anime, manga, movies, dramas, and commercials, and other video content. It also includes a feature that automatically translates created drafts and storyboards into 17 languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, and French.
A beta version of the platform was developed by Japanese developer Kayac Inc., and lauched by Shueisha along with Shonen Jump+ in August 2021.
