Skip And Loafer Becomes First Japanese Anime To Win CACC Golden Dragon Award

The anime adaptation of Misaki Takamatsu’s Skip and Loafer created history as it becomes the first Japanese anime ever to win the CACC Golden Dragon Award.

The Golden Dragon Award is regarded as the most authoritative and influential award in China, which also enjoys the longest history. The slogan of the competition is “Showing original works, finding new creators, rewarding innovative spirits, and contributing to the industry”.

Skip and Loafer won under “The Overseas Animation Award” category and was awarded with 5000 RMB.

Skip and Loafer anime was competing with ‘True and the Rainbow Kingdom‘ from Canada and ‘L’ENFANT DES VAGUES‘ from France for the crown under the category.

The award ceremony took place on Sep 26, 2023, at the Baiyun International Convention Center in Guangzhou, China.

The CACC Golden Dragon Award is the official competition of China International Comics Festival, which is one of the major projects of the cultural development reform plan.

Skip and Loafer anime adaptation produced by P.A. Works aired from April to June 2023.

Skip and Loafer is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Misaki Takamatsu. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon since August 2018. It has been licensed in North America for English release by Seven Seas Entertainment.

By January 2023, the manga had over 1 million copies in circulation. In 2023, Skip and Loafer won the 47th Kodansha Manga Award in the general category.
