This week the popular food chain McDonald’s has surprised the anime fan community by announcing an exciting collaboration with Studio Pierrot for the production of a new anime project. The launch of this teaser has generated a huge wave of expectations and speculation among followers of the popular fast food chain. Finally McDonald’s announced a couple of hours ago that the objective is bringing the WcDonald’s brand from the world of anime and manga to the real world.

The fictitious brand is an allusion to the names given to the renowned fast food chain in the world of anime, to avoid the famous legal process for trademark use. With this idea in mind, the restaurant hired Wc to be the brand for a miniseries of four shorts that will premiere every Monday on the WcDonald’s official website.

The popular fast food chain collaborated with Japanese artist Acky Bright to design the characters, as well as Studio Pierrot, who brought the production to life. This series of short films aims to pay tribute to four styles: action; Romance; wick and fantasy. Take a look at the plot as well as the title of each one:

  • The Race to McDonald’s: A rivalry strong enough to stand the test of time, as the two protagonists embark on an epic race to McDonald’s. Premiere: February 26.
  • Love from Across the Booth: The protagonists discover that WcDonald’s sauce and WcNuggets are not the only perfect couple. Premieres March 4.
  • WcNuggets Space Frontier 3000– A team of WcDonald’s pilots must protect the last WcNugget from a terrible enemy. Premieres March 11.
  • The Wisdom of Willow: Three women are transported to another world to unravel the mystery surrounding a delicious sauce before it disappears. Premieres March 18.

For now, anime fans and McDonald’s lovers will have to wait until February 26 to discover more details about this exciting project that promises to bring the magic of anime to the world of hamburgers and fries. That shows massive reach and global relevance of this collaboration between McDonald’s along with the renowned animation studio of Naruto and Bleach.

It should be noted that the McDonald’s brand will put on sale – for a limited time – products based on this joke, such as McDonald’s Savory Chili sauce, a combination of ginger; garlic; soy sauce and a light spicy touch of chili flakes. It will be served with Chicken WcNuggets, which will contain 10 pieces. The snack will be sold in 30 markets around the world, but it has not yet been announced which countries it will reach. Regarding Latin America, we will only have to wait to see if they will also receive this campaign.
