The Boy and the Heron Finally Gets a Release Date on Netflix Latin America
After a few good months of waiting for its official announcement, and its US premiere via Max, Netflix finally confirmed this Monday the release date of The boy and the heron in its Latin American catalogue: October 7. The platform also re-released the trailer:
The film was directed by Cinedubunder the direction of Leyla Rangel and the translation of Ana Isabel IturbeThe voice cast includes Emilio Trevino like Mahito, Elizabeth Infante like Himi, Alfonso Herrera like the Grey Heron and Gerardo Garcia like Soichi.
The film was initially released in Mexican theaters in December 2023 under the license of Cannibal Cinemacontinuing its tour of the continent at later dates, obtaining high acceptance and box office receipts, which even allowed re-releases in some countries.
About The Boy and the Heron
The feature film is loosely based on the novel Kimitachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?) of Genzaburo YoshinoIt should be noted that, for licensing reasons, the international title was The Boy and the Herontranslated into Spanish as The Boy and the Heron; however, the literal translation of the title in Japanese would be How do you live?.
The plot follows Mahito, a 12-year-old boy who struggles to settle in a new town following the death of his mother. However, when a talking heron informs him that his mother is still alive, Mahito enters an abandoned tower in search of her, which leads him to another world.
The Boy and the Heron is the most recent work of the legendary director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. Miyazaki is in charge of the direction and the script, while the music is in charge of the renowned Joe Hisaishiwho has worked on the studio's most iconic films.
The films are also available in digital stores for purchase and/or rental. It is worth noting that Netflix has a good part of the Studio Ghibli catalogue for your enjoyment.
