The Quintessential Quintuplets Honeymoon Arc Anime Gets Advanced Theatrical Screening; New Visual & Theme Songs Revealed
The Quintessential Quintuplets‘ new anime special, titled The Quintessential Quintuplets*, will be released in theatres for three weeks starting Sep 20, 2024, ahead of its TV broadcast.
A new visual, opening and ending theme song, and staff details were also revealed along with the new announcement.
The anime’s opening theme song ‘Gotobun no Egao’ and ending theme song ‘Memories’ will be performed by the voice actors of the Nakano quintuplets.
Masato Jinbo will serve as the director at Bibury Animation Studio as well as handle the scripts. Masato Katsumata will be in charge of character designs.
It was previously revealed that the anime special will be overseen directly by the mangaka, Negi Haruba. Haruba not only drafted the original story concept for the anime, but will also be supervising all aspects of its production.
The new special will be an original story not seen in the manga, following Futaro Uesugi’s honeymoon adventure with all five Nakano quintuplets.
The Quintessential Quintuplets is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Negi Haruba. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine from August 2017 to February 2020, with its chapters collected into fourteen tankobon volumes.
An anime television series adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions aired from January to March 2019 on TBS and other channels. A second season produced by Bibury Animation Studios aired from January to March 2021. The second season’s sequel, The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, was released as a film in May 2022. An anime television special produced by Shaft premiered in September 2023.
