Tokyo Revengers will receive “a continuation” in the anime

Through a televised event about anime Tokyo Revengers held this Sunday, it was announced that the production will have a sequel, although without defining whether this will be a new season for the anime series or a movie for theaters.

At the event it was also announced Dōwa Revengers (Fairy Tale Revengers), a mini anime whose premise is the version of Tokyo Revengers with fantasy stories. The first episode is based on the Japanese folk tale Momotaro.

What is Tokyo Revengers about?

Wakui launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2017, and ended the series in November 2023. The first television adaptation of the manga premiered in April 2021, with Crunchyroll in charge of broadcasting the anime while it aired in Japan. Starting in 2023, the anime passes into the hands of disneywho exclusively handle seasons 2 and 3. Their story is as follows:

Synopsis: Takemichi Hanagaki is a worker who has hit rock bottom in life. He then discovers that the only girlfriend he ever had, in his high school years, the young Hinata Tachibana, has died at the hands of the Tokyo Manji gang. The day he discovers the news of her death, he is at the train station when someone pushes him onto the tracks. He closes his eyes thinking that he is about to die, but when he opens them, without knowing how, he has gone back 12 years in time. He will now be able to relive those days that he considered the best of his life and Takemichi will try to take revenge on his life.

The production of the anime has been in charge of Liden Films. Currently, Weekly Shōnen Magazine is serializing the spinoff manga Tokyo Revengers Extra about the founders of the Tokyo Manji Gang.
