Yuri!!! on Ice Cancels Original Anime Film | Anime News
Yuri!!! on Ice: Ice Adolescence, an original film following hit figure skating anime Yuri!!! on Ice, has been cancelled.
The cancellation was announced by MAPPA, the studio behind the original anime, and the film’s production committee. According to the statement, there were various reasons that led them to judge that it was necessary to stop production.
The film was originally slated for a 2019 release, but was subsequently delayed in order to scale up the content.
An original anime created by Sayo Yamamoto
and Mitsuro Kubo, Yuri!!! on Ice follows a young figure skater named Yuri Katsuki. After meeting his idol, a Russian skater named Victor Nikiforov, his flagging career and personal life begins to take a turn for the better.
