Crunchyroll, the leading anime streaming platform, and Sony Music Entertainment have joined forces to launch an anime news podcast titled “Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect”. Scheduled to premiere on Feb 16, 2024, the podcast will be available worldwide in English on major podcast platforms, treating anime enthusiasts to new episodes every Friday.

“Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect” aims to go beyond the boundaries of specific anime shows and popular characters exclusive to Crunchyroll, and to explore the ever-expanding influence of anime across popular culture.

Crunchyroll’s in-house anime experts, Nicholas Friedman, LeAlec Murray, and Leah President, will lead the podcast, offering a lively mix of roundtable news, discussions, and conversations with special guests, as they debate hot topics, provide recommendations, and tackle fan questions.

Gita Rebbapragada, Crunchyroll’s Chief Operating Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture, stating, “The Anime Effect is a natural extension of our current Crunchyroll News program and a place where fans can dive deeper into everything anime and celebrate it regardless of what platform or service it is on. Whether you watch anime every day or are a casual viewer, this podcast is a must-listen.

“Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect” will debut as an audio show on major podcast platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Additionally, the podcast will be available as a video show on Crunchyroll and YouTube, with plans to expand to more platforms, including the Crunchyroll Channel, in 2024. Crunchyroll Premium subscribers will have the added benefit of enjoying the ad-free video show weekly on the Crunchyroll app.
